Liverpool told £50m bid could seal Jamie Gittens deal – sources

Liverpool target Jamie Gittens could cost around £40-50million next summer after his strong start to the new season, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds are one of the sides monitoring the 20-year-old’s situation at Borussia Dortmund.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (14 October) that Dortmund will be open to selling target Gittens for the right price next summer amid interest from Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea.

It is believed the German club are hopeful of banking in excess of £40million for the winger if his development continues this season.

Sources say no deal is likely to be sanctioned in the January transfer window – with any movement set to come in next year’s summer window.

Gittens is in the best form of his career for Dortmund after joining from Man City four years ago.

The right-footed left winger has hit four goals and notched two assists in nine games this term.

That is despite only starting in five of those outings – with his brace against Club Brugge in the Champions League coming as a late substitute.

Gittens is under contract with the Bundesliga side until June 2028 after penning a long-term deal last year (2023).

He has made 10 appearances for England’s Under-21 side since being given his debut by current senior boss Lee Carsley in September 2023.

The 20-year-old, who could follow the likes of Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland in leaving Dortmund for big money, has made 67 first-team appearances with the German side – notching nine goals and 11 assists.

Liverpool hold an interest in the youngster despite moving to sign Italy international Federico Chiesa in the most recent summer window.
