Liverpool told to pull plug on deal for player who’s ‘not as good as Conor Bradley’ – pundit
Liverpool “don’t need” to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong this summer as both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley are “better”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson claimed the Reds could utilise that money better by improving weaker positions in their squad.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider (3 April) that Liverpool and Man United are among the Premier League sides keen on a potential move for the wing-back, who has a £35million release clause.
Frimpong, 23, has been a standout for Xabi Alonso’s league-topping Bundesliga side having bagged 12 goals and 11 assists across all competitions from right-back, right midfield and right wing.

However, Robinson was adamant that the former Celtic star would be surplus to requirements at Anfield next season and suggested that a “conversation” will be held by Liverpool chiefs regarding Bradley’s and Alexander-Arnold’s roles next season.
“I think Frimpong is a good player,” he told Football Insider.
“His time at Celtic showed he was a good player and at Leverkusen, he has gone on to the next level.
“But as far as Liverpool are concerned, they don’t need him.
“If you’re going to pay that fee for that kind of player, I can’t see where he would play.
“He does not get in over Conor Bradley or Trent Alexander-Arnold.
“If they play Trent higher up the pitch in midfield, it’s a conversation as to who plays at right-back.

“They have another option there with Joe Gomez too.
“With the team and with the squad, there’s other areas where money would be better spent in the Liverpool squad than stockpiling the right-back position when there’s two there that are already better than him.”
