Liverpool told to U-turn on January midfield signing after journalist’s update today – Robinson
Paul Robinson has urged Liverpool to sign a midfielder prior to the January transfer window closing.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one suggested Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will not be fully satisfied if Cody Gakpo is the only arrival.
Gakpo will officially become a Liverpool player on 1 January after agreeing a move from PSV Eindhoven on Boxing Day.

According to The Times‘ Paul Joyce (31 December), the Netherlands international will be the only arrival at Anfield this winter barring an unexpected opportunity arising.
Liverpool’s midfield has been an area of concern over the past 12 months.
When asked by Football Insider if the Merseyside club could afford to wait until the summer to sign a midfielder, Robinson said: “It’s no secret that they want [Jude] Bellingham but they can’t just wait until the summer to buy a midfielder for me.
“I think Klopp will want two midfielders really. Bellingham and another. I think they have to go out and sign the other now.

“They’ve got Gakpo and I’m sure the manager is happy with that but they need another midfielder. If they get another midfielder in, the squad will be looking very strong for the second half of the season.
“I’m sure they will be looking at what’s available. The question is, can they get the player they want for a reasonable price in January. That may be difficult.”
