Liverpool transfer news: ‘Big Thiago offer is expected to arrive soon’ – pundit

Thiago Alcantara still has a lot to offer at Liverpool – but a “big” bid is likely to be accepted.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton believes that the Reds should be careful if they decide to sell Thiago before the start of the season.

Football Insider understands that Liverpool are willing to offload Thiago, amid interest from Saudi Arabia, and are making progress on a deal for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.

The Spanish midfielder Thiago is entering the final year of his current contract at Anfield and is reportedly drawing interest from a number of Saudi teams as a result.

The Reds are currently in a midfield rebuild, following the arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, and it could see the Spaniard leave the club.

Amid a potential move, Hutton believes Thiago is still a valuable player for the Reds next season.

“I think he’s still got a lot to offer,” He told Football Insider.

He is a player that is technically outstanding, it is more about if he has the fitness to go week-in-week out throughout a whole season.

“It will be an interesting summer, and you look at some of the players have bought in already, that may give Liverpool the license to sell him.

“I expect a big Saudi offer to come in as he is at a good age and technically gifted, but he still has a lot to offer at Liverpool.”
