Liverpool transfer news: Rafael Camacho ready to join English club – sources
Liverpool youth product Rafael Camacho is ready to kick-start his career with a return to England this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Camacho is out of contract with Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon at the end of this month as he prepares to leave the club on a free.
The Portuguese winger is working his way back to fitness following injury and is determined to put his nightmare time in Lisbon behind him after failing to make a single appearance last season.
Sources say multiple Championship clubs have already registered their interest in signing the 24-year-old on a free transfer ahead of his deal expiring.
Rafael Camacho could join Championship club this summer
Camacho spent three years in Liverpool’s academy after joining the club from Manchester City in 2016.
After earning a professional contract at Anfield, the Lisbon-born winger saw his chances limited under Jurgen Klopp, making just two senior appearances for the Premier League club.
The Portuguese went on to join Sporting in a reported £7million deal in 2019, but he’s also found first-team opportunities hard to come by back in his home city.
Camacho has only made 26 appearances for the club over the past five years, scoring one goal and laying on one assist.

He’s previously spent time on loan with fellow Portuguese teams Rio Ave and B-SAD as well as Greek side Aris in the 2022-23 campaign, where he registered three goals and three assists in 32 games.
Although he failed to make a single appearance last season, Championship clubs are now monitoring his situation as they ponder making a move to bring him back to England once his deal expires this month.
