Liverpool v Man City: Expert issues ‘100 per cent’ verdict after FA statement

The Football Association will not move Manchester City’s FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool from Wembley to Old Trafford, according to Kevin Campbell.

The former Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said corporate tickets and hospitality packages will prevent the game from being relocated.

Liverpool and City fans face an uphill task to get to Wembley for their FA Cup clash on 16 April.

Rail engineering works mean there will be no services from the north-west to London Euston over the Easter weekend.

As reported by the BBC (22 March), the FA have released a statement saying they would liaise with both clubs to find a solution.

Campbell is adamant that the game should be moved but fears it is a pipe dream.

“I’m pretty sure they are going to keep it at Wembley,” he told Football Insider. “They will have to put on extra coaches.

“It is unfortunate and it isn’t nice but I cannot see them changing it. One of the main reasons is the corporate tickets. When you are selling all of these packages, I cannot see them moving it to Old Trafford.

“Don’t get me wrong, it should be changed. 100 per cent. But I cannot see it being changed, sadly.”

Man City

In a statement, the FA said: “The FA will be liaising closely with both Liverpool and Manchester City on all match arrangements, including supporters travel for the upcoming semi-final at Wembley Stadium.

“Further details to be announced in due course.”
