Liverpool ‘very confident’ over Andy Robertson as deal reportedly agreed – sources

Liverpool believe they will keep hold of Andy Robertson well beyond this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that the board are not worried by reported interest linking the left-back to a sensational switch to German giants Bayern Munich this summer.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the club are “very confident” Robertson will resist interest from other sides and remain at Anfield.

The Bundesliga holder’s current first-choice left-back Alphonso Davies has reportedly agreed a deal in principle and personal terms with Real Madrid, which could open the door for the Scotsman to depart.

However, Liverpool chiefs believe Robertson will stay even when Jurgen Klopp departs at the end of the season.

Robertson has been a mainstay at the Merseyside giants since his reported £8million move from Hull City in 2017.

The 29-year-old signed a new deal with Liverpool in 2021, which is set to expire in the summer of 2026.

A shoulder injury has forced him to the sidelines for 21 games in all competitions this season, but he has since featured in the Reds’ last five Premier League games and their League Cup final victory last month (25 February).

Liverpool are planning for life post-Klopp and are keen to keep many of their star players on the books.

They have made Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso their top choice to replace the German, but as revealed by Football Insider (28 February), he has “reservations” about taking over from the long-term boss.
