‘Liverpool will sell Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz if they sign top forward I love’

Liverpool have dominated the Premier League this season in terms of points and the attacking style of play Arne Slot has implemented, but the future of many players in the squad is up for debate.

The Reds could be set to lose out on Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold as their contracts are expiring, but after a full season working with the squad Slot will be set to clean out anyone he doesn’t want.

The Liverpool boss publicly called out Nunez’s work ethic recently, and supporters believe that is a sign that the Uruguay international will be sold in the summer.

Football Insider revealed that Liverpool are planning to offer Nunez to Newcastle as part of a potential deal to sign Alexander Isak as Slot looks to strengthen his attacking options.

However, Nunez isn’t the only Liverpool player who could be sold as there are also question marks surrounding the future of Luis Diaz.

Industry insider Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that the Reds plan to sell Diaz to raise funds for reinvestment purposes as he has been deemed a sellable asset within the squad.

Liverpool could undergo a major restructure in the summer

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson revealed he believes Brighton’s Joao Pedro could be an option for Liverpool this summer.

“He’s a top player, I really like him, but I think he plays better off the main striker, maybe coming in off the wide,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“He’s a player that I really like.

“I watched him when he first came to Brighton and you can see the talent that he’s got, Brighton are a club that will sell.

“They’ve proven in the past that they’ll sell, but they’ll sell at top dollar, and Liverpool in a situation, we’re all in the dark at the moment, aren’t we?

“We don’t know whether there’s going to be space on Liverpool’s wage bill.

“Joao Pedro comes in, but then he questions the future of Nunes Diaz etc.

“You know there’s the stories in the press in the media every week about the Liverpool front line been rejuvenated but actually how much of an upheaval do you want for Liverpool with the worst case that Mo Salah moved on this summer?

“Does Darwin Nunez move on? Does Diaz move on? What are they left with? What does the forward line look like? Are they going to have to have this huge rebuild.

“They don’t just go and sign.

“He doesn’t seem to be the type of manager that wants to overhaul a squad unless he has to.”

Joao Pedro has proven himself capable of thriving in the Premier League

Pedro has been a key member of the Brighton squad since he joined the club in 2023, being a genuine attacking threat within the Premier League.

The 23-year-old has scored 19 goals and provided 10 assists across his 83 appearances in the English top flight, and Football Insider revealed in December that Liverpool are keeping tabs on Pedro.

The Brazil international is under contract until 2028 at the Amex Stadium, which would put Brighton in a strong negotiating position.
