Sources: Kylan Midwood agrees seven-figure move after Liverpool offer

Man City have agreed to sign Sheffield United rising star Kylan Midwood after beating Liverpool to a seven-figure deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League champions have finalised terms with the highly-rated striker, 15, and he has already undergone a medical.

Midwood is set to be confirmed soon as a City player and will sign a scholarship deal that will be converted into a professional contract when he turns 17.

Liverpool and Newcastle United also offered contracts to Midwood but he has been more convinced by the City proposal.

They will pay a fee of more than £1million for the youngster.

The deal is a regarded by youth football experts as a major coup for City, with Midwood regarded as a player of great potential.

He made his debut for United Under-18s at the age of 14 and scored his first goal for the age-group side in October.

Interest in the youngster has rocketed since that point and the Premier League giants have been queuing up to lure him ahead of January.

Midwood will become the latest young player to move on from the United academy, which has produced a number of top players in recent years.

He will follow Will Lankshear in moving to a top-flight giant after he joined Tottenham in the summer for around £2m.

Current England stars Harry Maguire, Kyle Walker and Aaron Ramsdale are all graduates of the Bramall Lane academy.
