Liverpool ‘won’t think twice’ about making star top earner ‘ahead of Van Dijk’ – pundit

Paul Robinson has tipped to Liverpool to make Mohamed Salah the top earner at the club.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said Reds chiefs “will not think twice” about upping the 29-year-old’s wage significantly.

According to the Liverpool Echo (September 5th), the club are pushing forward in contract talks with the Egypt international.

However, the report states suggestions over the weekend that the winger is demanding wages of £500,000-a-week are incorrect.

Salah has less than two years to run on his current contract at Anfield.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on Salah’s future, Robinson said: “Liverpool are not shy when it comes to paying wages.

“I think they will make him the top earner at the club, ahead of the likes of Virgil van Dijk.

“They’ve been very wise and clever with their contract renewals this year. The fact that they are in negotiations with Salah tells you a lot. I don’t think they will think twice about upping his salary significantly and making him the top earner there.

“He looks after himself so well as well. There will be no concerns about him turning 30 next year. that’s for sure. He lives and breathes football.”

Salah has contributed a staggering 127 goals and 49 assists in 206 appearances for Liverpool.

The Athletic revealed on Tuesday that the forward is the most consistent elite goalscorer in Europe.
