Liverpool to 'make move' for Bradley Barcola after PSG U-turn
Liverpool are ready to launch an opening bid for Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola after being made aware of his availability.
The 23-year-old has been named as Liverpool's top target to strengthen out wide this summer, and they have been keeping a close eye on his situation.
Despite having been reluctant to let him go earlier this summer, PSG are now open to offers for the France international, with Liverpool primed to make a move.
However, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown warned Football Insider that any deal for Barcola will not come cheap and Liverpool must pay a "considerable" fee to lure him away.
The price tag involved is unlikely to deter Andoni Iraola's side given the level of interest in his signature, as the addition of a new winger has been their priority this summer.
Following the departure of Mohamed Salah, Liverpool have set their sights on a number of attacking options, and Barcola is now the outstanding candidate for the role.
Will Liverpool make a move for Bradley Barcola?
Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Barcola and are waiting for the green light from PSG to make a move.
Now that the France international is expected to be available, the Reds are posied to make a move, and have already made their interest known to the relevant parties.
The price tag involved could prove problematic, but Liverpool are hopeful they will be able to negotiate a deal that works for everybody involved.
"It looks like Liverpool are ready to make a move for Bradley Barcola," Brown told Football Insider.
"He's been on their radar for a while and it looks like PSG are prepared to let him go, so it's a deal that makes sense for everybody involved if they can get it done.
"The big concern is about how much money he will cost, because PSG aren't going to want to lose him on the cheap.
"It's going to be a significant fee, and while Liverpool will probably be prepared to pay it because he is the player they want, it might not be as straightforward as that.
"But their priority all summer has been to sign a new winger, they need to replace Mohamed Salah, so when their top target becomes available of course they'll make a move."
How much will Liverpool have to pay to sign Barcola?
Liverpool are not backing down from their pursuit of Barcola, but the likely price tag that PSG will demand could be problematic when looking at this summer's biggest deals.
Premier League clubs have already spent big money, with the likes of Morgan Rogers, Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson all moving for upwards of £100million.
Now, Football Insider have excluisvely revealed that Liverpool will have to break the Premier League transfer record to agree a deal for Barcola.
PSG will demand a fee of around £140million for the winger, and are using this summer's other big-money deals as a yardstick to dictate their lofty asking price.
The 23-year-old has rejected a new contract with the French champions, but has two years remaining on his current deal, putting them in a strong position to dictate his future.
