Liverpool will have to pay a fee in the region of £140million to sign PSG winger Bradley Barcola this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 23-year-old has rejected a new contract with the French champions, and has just two years remaining on his current deal.

The Reds are said to be extremely interested in the forward, but it is unclear just how much they would be willing to pay for him.

£140m would see the Premier League transfer record smashed for the second summer running, after Liverpool paid £125m for Alexander Isak last year.

Barcola scored 13 goals and provided six assists across all competitions last season, but has often found himself forced to battle against Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for a starting role.

Arsenal are also reportedly interested in the Frenchman, but are focused on the potential signing of Vinicius Junior.

Will PSG's Bradley Barcola price tag hold up?

PSG's asking price for Barcola is informed by a transfer window that has already seen Premier League clubs pay extraordinary figures.

Morgan Rogers does not have quite the same pedigree as the PSG man, who also impressed at the World Cup for France.

Yet the Englishman cost Chelsea £117m to sign from Aston Villa, while the likes of Yan Diomande and Anthony Gordon are also due to have cost big money.

Barcola's contract situation cannot be ignored, however. Should PSG not sell this summer, they may well have to accept a vastly reduced fee next year when he has just one year remaining.

That £140m price tag may fall in that case, yet it remains unclear just how much it would need to for Liverpool to stump up the cash.

What Kylian Mbappe said about Barcola

Barcola arrived at PSG in 2023, signing in a deal worth around £38.5m from Lyon.

Kylian Mbappe was there at the time, and would spend his final year in France with the winger before joining Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Barcola would score five goals and provide nine assists across all competitions in that season, enough for the Frenchman to be convinced by his countryman's ability.

The pair have since gone on to play for France together, where they are both key men. "That he would emerge at the very highest level was obvious, but he did it in his first season in Paris," Mbappe said before the World Cup.

"In the national team, he is really starting to take his place. Bradley doesn't talk much. You have to understand him. But once you understand him, you know he's a great guy."

Liverpool will hope to understand Barcola and get to know him very soon.
