Liverpool 'will sign Bradley Barcola' and then 'spend big' on other star names

Bradley Barcola is likely to be just one of several signings under Andoni Iraola at Liverpool this summer.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the new boss at Anfield will "spend quite big" ahead of 2026-27.

The Reds have already welcomed Jeremy Jacquet, who signed a pre-contract back back in February, as well as Victor Munoz this summer.

Supporters will be hoping for a much more successful 2026-27 campaign, having finished fifth in the Premier League under Arne Slot, as well as being knocked out of the Champions League quarter-finals.

Liverpool are facing competition from Arsenal for PSG attacker Barcola's signature, but Football Insider revealed earlier this month that the player could force a move to Merseyside.

While the Ligue 1 champions are reluctant to let the 23-year-old winger leave, it would appear that he is edging closer to a Premier League switch.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson has backed the Frenchman to be part of a big squad overhaul by Iraola this summer.

"Liverpool haven't really done anything yet either, but they will do. I think they definitely will do," he said.

"They'll probably sign [Bradley] Barcola as a minimum, I would think. So, Liverpool are going to spend quite big.

"But outside of that, there's not a lot of movement.

"And are the teams lower down going to start picking off the excess at Liverpool, [Man] City, Arsenal, the fringe players that those teams would want to sell?"

Despite two big deals already being done, there are several aspects of the squad that need addressing before the 2026-27 campaign kicks off.

Given rumours of an exit for Alisson, the goalkeeper position could be a concern this summer, while Mohamed Salah definitely needs replacing.

Football Insider understands that the Reds have joined the race for Roma and France star Manu Kone, as well as Morocco star Ayyoub Bouaddi.

Darwin Nunez has been a surprise link this summer, but with Hugo Ekitike sidelined for months, a new striker certainly makes sense.
