Liverpool are continuing to prioritise the majority of their funds towards a new right winger to replace Mohamed Salah this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Salah said an emotional goodbye to Liverpool in May after nine successful years at the club.

New manager Andoni Iraola has targeted several right wingers so far this summer, but the club are yet to sign a clear replacement for the Egyptian hero.

Victor Munoz has added depth to the left flank, while several big-money strikers have also been linked with a move to Anfield.

Liverpool remain keen to spend big on a new right winger to succeed Salah ahead of any other position, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast.

Yan Diomande looked set to arrive as the Reds' marquee summer signing, but talk of a move has lessened over the last few weeks amid interest from PSG.

Liverpool prioritising huge right winger signing above any other position

Sources recently revealed to Football Insider that Besiktas were lining up a move for free agent Salah, and he is now moving closer to joining the Super Lig giants after agreeing a deal.

The Reds have been touted to make a move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez this summer, but a right-wing replacement for Salah remains their top priority as it stands.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Liverpool's biggest priority is to bring in a new winger to replace Mohamed Salah.

"That's going to be a costly deal as well, so I don't see how they could afford to bring in a marquee signing for that winger, while also signing somebody like Julian Alvarez, who's going to cost in excess, probably, of £120 million."

Andoni Iraola has new Harvey Elliott plan after Liverpool return

Harvey Elliott to be given second chance at Liverpool after Salah exit

Elliott started to struggle for game time in 2024-25 as Salah enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career while Liverpool won the Premier League.

His woes led to a loan move away to Aston Villa last season, but Elliott suffered a nightmarish stint in the Second City as they aimed to avoid triggering his buy clause after a certain amount of appearances.

He is now back on Merseyside for pre-season, and sources have revealed to Football Insider that Iraola is ready to give Elliott another chance to win a place in his squad for the coming campaign.

His return is set to bolster their right-wing ranks, but the 23-year-old is still unlikely to be a regular starter.
