Sources: Curtis Jones sets sights on joining new club amid Liverpool transfer update

Inter Milan are still working on a deal to sign Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, sources have told Football Insider.

The Italian giants are hopeful of agreeing a deal for the 25-year-old midfielder before the summer transfer window closes.

The England international is also keen on a move to the San Siro as he no longer wants to be a squad player at Liverpool.

Jones played 34 Premier League matches during the 2025-26 campaign, but only 18 of these were starts as the Reds finished fifth in the table.

As a result, the midfielder was excluded from Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup this summer.

If a sale is agreed upon, Jones could become Liverpool’s first major sale of the summer, with Andoni Iraola’s side yet to see a player depart for a fee.

Should Liverpool sell Curtis Jones this summer?

Since making his debut during the 2018-19 campaign, Jones slowly but surely became an established player in the first-team.

In four of the last six seasons, he has made at least 34 appearances in all competitions and has helped the club win numerous trophies, including a Premier League title.

However, despite having numerous chances to impress, Jones has never been able to establish himself as a key player at the club.

When examining his stats, this is of little surprise. According to Fotmob on 5 August, Jones only averaged 0.05 goals, a 0.13 xG, 1.07 shots, 0.09 assists, 0.98 chances created, 4.76 duels won with a 50.7 per cent win rate, 1.87 tackles and 0.84 interceptions.

Therefore, Jones is not particularly outstanding at either end of the field, especially when compared to the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, who is excellent attacking-wise, or Ryan Gravenberch, who is great at defending.

As a result, Jones’ potential sale will not come as much of a surprise to many of the Anfield faithful.

Who else could Liverpool sell this summer?

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made Cody Gakpo their top target this summer.

The Netherlands international’s importance at Liverpool could take a hit this summer after the arrival of Victor Munoz, and with Bradley Barcola potentially making a move to Anfield.

As a result, Spurs are looking to swoop in and sign Gakpo this transfer window in hopes of upgrading their front line.

However, it remains to be seen who exits Liverpool over the remaining weeks of the transfer window.
