'Watch and learn' - Jeff Bezos & Co. told about 'throwing their weight around' at Liverpool
Amit Bhatia and his consortium, including Jeff Bezos, should be careful about getting overly involved already at Liverpool.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the best owners "watch, learn, understand and download".
Bhatia and Bezos came aboard during the summer after 1892 Holdings bought a 38 per cent stake at Anfield, sparking excitement on Merseyside.
The Reds have already had some major decisions to make, including finding a figure to replace Richard Hughes as the club's sporting director.
Instead of an ambitious hire, Liverpool and FSG have turned to former sporting director Julian Ward, who was previously in the role between 2022 and 2023.
Keith Wyness believed that this move raised some "red flags" and was surprised by the lack of involvement from the new minority owners.
New Liverpool owners 'need a chance to understand the business'
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson actually believes that a bigger impact from the new owners would be bad news for the Reds.
"They've been in situ for about a month. Maybe give them a chance to understand the business," he said.
"In actual fact, it would be bad if they were throwing their weight around so soon. I think that the best you can expect from a new owner is to come in and watch, learn, understand, and download.
"Then, once they understand the business, and that'll take quite a long time. I would think then they can start saying, 'Well actually, what about this? What about this? This guy's great; this business, we should partner with'.
"Right now, I wouldn't think that they should have any involvement at all aside from effectively being told that this is the decision that's been made by people that have been in situ for a very long time."
What does the future hold for FSG at Anfield?
The entire situation has raised questions over FSG's future as Liverpool majority owners, but they continue to make the bulk of the decisions.
Borson believes that Bhatia and Bezos could buy Liverpool Football Club in its entirety within the next 12 months, especially if they're able to learn enough about the club.
The minority owners could choose to splash the cash in the January window, but only if Andoni Iraola requires additions to his squad.
Gilberto Mora, Rayan, Kevin Schade and Micky van de Ven are all of interest at Anfield, but it remains to be seen how much the club will spend in January.
