Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister reacts as Marc Cucurella sends Chelsea message

Marc Cucurella sent a message via social media to Chelsea fans following his key intervention against Leicester City on Sunday.

Cole Palmer continued his torrid form for Chelsea, being denied from the penalty spot by Mads Hermansen, but it was not enough to save the Foxes from a 1-0 defeat on 9 March.

As frustrations grew at Stamford Bridge, Cucurella unleashed a long-range effort, enjoying the moment with his well-known penguin celebration.

Despite bagging all three points, the narrow win does not look to have been enough to alleviate the pressure on Enzo Maresca, who is already facing the sack at Chelsea after just nine months in charge.

Taking to Instagram [9 March], Cucurella wrote: “Sundays at the Bridge. Enjoy the rest of your evening,” with a blue love heart, with Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister liking the post.

His Chelsea teammates Reece James, Romeo Lavia and Tosin Adarabioyo also all liked his post-match comments, having scored the all-important winner on Sunday.

Enzo Maresca risking Cole Palmer exit this summer

Palmer has already been tipped to leave Chelsea this summer, especially if the Blues cannot secure Champions League football this term after having to play in the Europa Conference League.

Maresca’s men have leapfrogged their way into fourth in the Premier League table, with Pep Guardiola facing sack pressure at Man City after losing to Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Chelsea face plenty of competition for Champions League qualification this season.

With 10 games of the league campaign remaining, there is still plenty of time left for twists and turns, and the Citizens will not go down without a fight because Champions League qualification is integral.

Maresca could be in a lot of trouble if Chelsea do finish outside the top-four spots, and with Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Newcastle also fighting for the spots, it could come down to the wire.

Malo Gusto, Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson‘s injuries all make that all the more difficult, but the Blues will need to fight will everything until the final game of the season.
