Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott responds to emotional exit message as transfer confirmed
Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has responded to an emotional exit message after a transfer was confirmed.
Elliott struggled to make an impact last term during the Reds’ Premier League title charge, and rumours around his exit have been rife this summer with numerous clubs vying to land his services.
Football Insider recently revealed that Elliott is being targeted by former club Fulham this summer, while sources have told Football Insider that Brighton, too, are “confident” of striking a deal for the 22-year-old Reds star.
Former scout Mick Brown also told Football Insider on 15 July that Newcastle and Tottenham have both joined the race to sign Elliott this summer, while Football Insider recently reported that Wolves are also “keen” on a move for Elliott this summer, so he is certainly not short of suitors.
The 22-year-old’s future at Anfield has been unclear, and he has now moved to respond to an emotional message after a transfer away was confirmed.

Tyrhys Dolan pens emotional Blackburn exit message
Aside from Fulham and Liverpool, Elliott also featured on loan at Blackburn Rovers during the 2020/21 campaign, netting seven times in 42 appearances.
It was at Ewood Park where he played alongside Dolan, who has now left Rovers after five years at the club to join La Liga side Espanyol on a free transfer [BBC].
The 23-year-old took to Instagram on Saturday (26 July) to pen a long, emotional message to Blackburn supporters following the move, saying: “I want to thank blackburn rovers for giving me the opportunity to showcase my talent, from the moment I walked in I knew this was a place I can call home. You believed in me, accepted me & embraced me, I’ll forever be grateful. I promised to re pay that by giving my all every single time I was called upon…
“Thankyou for accepting me, letting me be me & embracing me…This chapter of my life has been one I will truly never forget, some of the greatest moments of my life I have shared at this great club, in front of you guys and I will always be watching as a supporter. Wishing you all the very best, Tyrhys.”
Elliott moved to respond to his former teammate’s message by saying: “Legend,” with a red heart emoji, and: “go smash it!!” while Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton replied with two blue heart emojis and Sammie Szmodics said: “Legend” with three red heart emojis.
Elliott should leave Liverpool to join another Premier League club
Football Insider verdict
Football Insider revealed in April that Elliott’s priority is to remain at Liverpool ahead of next season, but he has been frustrated with his lack of action at the club, so it certainly seems likely that he leaves soon to further his own career as the Reds spend big in the summer window.
He is clearly a player in demand, and while his time at Liverpool has been one of huge success so far in terms of trophies, he has struggled to play a major role in many of their six triumphs since he joined the club back in 2019 from Fulham.
Appearances | Goals | Assists |
147 | 15 | 20 |
He featured just 28 times in all competitions last season as Slot chose to stick by his more senior players, and his minutes seem unlikely to increase much further in the new campaign, so a move away would surely benefit all parties as he looks to progress in the years to come.
Joining a club like Brighton would definitely make more sense than either Newcastle or Spurs, as the Seagulls are known for their impressive development of young talent, and he would likely be one of the first names on the teamsheet as opposed to having to fight for his place at the other two bigger sides.
