Liverpool’s Mohamed Simakan move depends on Joe Gomez – sources
Liverpool are not expected to make a move for Mohamed Simakan unless Joe Gomez departs the club, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Reds are “happy with what they’ve got to get them through to at least January.”
It is believed that Liverpool might look to sign a central defender if Gomez is to leave late in the transfer window.
Simakan is a name that the Premier League giants are monitoring, but at this stage that could be a move Arne Slot looks to make at another time.
Despite him being linked with moves away from Anfield this summer, Liverpool are not pushing the England international out.
Gomez is the club’s longest-serving player currently, and it will take a big offer for the Reds to contemplate selling him so late in the transfer window.
Liverpool aren’t likely to make a move for Mohamed Simakan
Gomez hasn’t featured in Liverpool’s first two games this season and wasn’t even in the match-day squad for the curtain-raiser against Ipswich Town.
The 27-year-old has made 224 appearances for the club since he joined in 2015 and was a regular feature under Jurgen Klopp due to his versatility to play across the back line.

Gomez is not the only player who has been linked with an Anfield exit and is now expected to remain at the club beyond this window.
In other news, Nottingham Forest agree to sign James Ward-Prowse.
