‘Lack of class’ – Kris Boyd destroys Rangers chief, makes claim about manager hunt
Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd has destroyed Ibrox chairman Dave King for the way he has led the club in the past few years, claiming that he is making one cock-up after another.
Light Blues fans were left furious by the manager hunt that took place after Pedro Caixinha’s sacking in October which took almost two months to reach any resemblance of a conclusion.
After a botched attempt to hire Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes and a ridiculous statement that followed, the Gers decided that they would instead appoint Graeme Murty as manager until the end of the season, saying that the Under-20s coach was the man that they wanted all along.
However Kilmarnock forward Boyd has made it clear that Rangers chief King is simply not doing a good enough job in his position of power, while also claiming that the Glasgow giants would have held talks with other potential managers as well as McInnes.
“What astonished me about Murty’s appointment was the comments from Rangers claiming they always believed him to be the right man for the job,” he said on the Scottish Sun website.
“Well, that’s complete nonsense for a start. They tried and failed miserably to get Derek McInnes.
“I’m pretty sure they also spoke to other managers as well.”
He added: “Just what has King done for them since taking over?
“Not a lot. His reign has been blighted by one cock-up after another.
“There has been a real lack of class about the place in recent years.”
Murty can do a lot of working in endearing himself to the fans and the clubs’ bosses on Saturday if he was to oversee a positive result against Celtic at Parkhead.
The ex-Reading defender is the only manager to have avoided defeat to the Hoops since the Gers’ return to the Scottish Premiership when he oversaw a 1-1 draw with Brendan Rodgers’ side in March.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are in talks over a January swoop for this Premier League forward.
