Lloyd Kelly: Defender’s stance on quitting Newcastle revealed
Lloyd Kelly is not pushing for an exit from Newcastle this month despite his lack of first-team action, sources have told Football Insider.
Fenerbahce and Juventus are among the European sides to express an interest in the 26-year-old this month.
Newcastle are reluctant to weaken their squad by selling Kelly this month but could consider a huge-money offer if it arrives.
In any case, the versatile defender is not agitating for a move away from St James’ Park – having only joined on a free transfer from Bournemouth six months ago.
Fenerbahce and Juventus therefore have a number of hurdles to clear before they get the green light to sign Kelly.
The 26-year-old has made 13 appearances across all competitions this season, starting in seven of those outings.
He has completed a full 90 minutes in the Premier League on just one occasion since signing for Newcastle.
Kelly not pushing for Newcastle exit this month
Kelly, who has played at centre-back and left-back this term, is under contract at St James’ Park until June 2029.
He is competing for places with the likes of Sven Botman, Dan Burn and Fabian Schar.

Newcastle sit sixth in the Premier League table after losing 4-1 against Kelly’s former side Bournemouth on Saturday (18 January).
The Magpies are next in action away at Southampton this weekend (25 January).
