Lucas Moura could lead Tottenham exodus as player stance confirmed – pundit

Frank McAvennie has claimed Tottenham need to offload players and suggested Lucas Moura is one surplus to requirements.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-West Ham striker said he expects around six players to exit the London club this summer.

Speaking to club media (22 July), Moura, 29, said he loves playing for Spurs and is “living the dream” at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

The winger featured as a substitute in the club’s friendly against Rangers on Saturday.

The Brazilian currently has one year left on his contract, which includes the option of a further year.

McAvennie suggested players who regularly feature on the bench could exit this summer.

Sometimes a manager comes in and he’s got a vision of how he wants to play and you don’t fit into that,” he told Football Insider.

It’s not because you’re not a good player it’s just because you don’t fit into the manager’s plans. Sometimes you just have to accept that and leave.

There will be a few players, about half a dozen players in the Tottenham squad that he would want to move out.

I don’t think it will be any of the boys who are playing first team football. Certainly the players on the bench and those in the stands, he’ll want to get them off the wage bill. I think he’ll have to do that and they still have plenty of time.

Now that he knows what kind of squad he’s got, he’ll be able to judge and let go of the ones that he doesn’t need. Someone like Lucas Moura who, last season, came on and did a job for them but now he has other players he maybe doesn’t need him anymore.
