Luis Diaz, Curtis Jones react to Ryan Gravenberch announcement at Liverpool

Luis Diaz and Curtis Jones reacted to an announcement concerning their Liverpool teammate Ryan Gravenberch on social media.

The final two Premier League games of the season are make-or-break for many clubs, desperate to claim six points that could define their futures.

Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, and Aston Villa are just three of the nine clubs who are still fighting for a place in various European competitions for next season.

As for Liverpool, the focus has been a little different. Having tied up the Premier League title with a 5-1 demolition over Tottenham, the Reds’ stars have jetted off abroad to soak up some sun, or if you’re Arne Slot, to party with Wayne Lineker.

A big part of the Merseyside club’s success this season can be attributed to the fine form of Gravenberch, who has seamlessly transitioned into defensive midfield after Slot’s side missed out on the signing of Arsenal target Martin Zubimendi.

Ryan Gravenberch nominated for Premier League Young Player of the Season.

Ahead of Monday night’s (19 May) clash with Brighton, Liverpool announced on their Instagram page that Gravenberch had been nominated for the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season.

The post showcased several pictures of the Dutch midfielder and was captioned: “A top season from Ryan.

“Gravenberch is a Premier League Young Player of the Season nominee”.

The post was liked by Jones and Diaz, with both showing their support for their teammate after a stellar season.

The former Bayern Munich man will face stiff competition for the award, with the other nominees being Liam Delap, Anthony Elanga, Cole Palmer, Dean Huijsen, Joao Pedro, Morgan Rogers, and William Saliba.

Coming out of Ajax’s esteemed academy, Gravenberch was heralded as one of world football’s top talents.

Bayern Munich won the race for his signature, and he joined in the summer of 2022 to much fanfare.

But after a disappointing season in Bavaria, the Dutchman moved to Anfield and once again struggled in his maiden season with the Reds.

Having missed out on their top target of Zubimendi last summer, the decision to move Gravenberch into a more holding role was a last-minute switch that has paid off massively.

The Dutchman has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best, finally matching what was expected of him, and saving Liverpool the expense of signing a defensive midfielder this summer so funding can help replace Trent Alexander-Arnold instead after the defender’s increasingly-acrimonious exit [Mackem News].
