Luis Diaz: Pundit issues ‘massive’ claim after ‘absolutely incredible’ Liverpool news in last 24 hours
Jurgen Klopp deserves “massive credit” for finding another “gem” for Liverpool in the shape of Luis Diaz, according to Noel Whelan.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League striker claimed Diaz will have a major say in who will win the Premier League as the title race hots up.
The winger scored his first goal for Liverpool in the 3-1 win over Norwich City at the weekend (19 February).
It came in his fourth appearance for the Reds since his January move from FC Porto.
He has hit the ground running at Anfield and Klopp claimed his early performances, via the Liverpool Echo yesterday (20 February) have been “absolutely incredible”.
“Massive credit to Jurgen Klopp,” Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Ewan Kingsbury.
“He looks for players who can hit the ground running and players who fit really well into his system.
“What a finish as well, wow. It was a typical Liverpool goal – great ball through from Henderson, brilliant diagonal run, and a lovely composed finish. You only get that from quality players.
“Jurgen Klopp wants these players who can come in and make an instant impact, and he will be really important to where the title goes this season.
“All credit to Liverpool, they’ve identified what looks to be another gem.”

Results at the weekend mean Liverpool are now just three points behind league leaders Man City with a game in hand.
They could cut that gap to three points if they beat Leeds United at Anfield on Wednesday (23 February).
