Luis Diaz responds to heartfelt Liverpool message as Anfield exit looms
Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has reacted to a heartfelt message from the club amid widespread rumours that he is soon set to depart Anfield for pastures new.
Diaz registered 13 goals and seven assists in 36 Premier League appearances as Liverpool won the league last season, yet his future on Merseyside remains unclear ahead of the new campaign.
Football Insider recently revealed Liverpool will demand up to £70million for Diaz after Barcelona also saw an approach rebuffed, while Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr have been credited with major interest in the Colombian international’s services.
He recently reached the end of his third full season at Liverpool, and despite it being his most productive yet, he could well depart soon with recent reports suggesting that the Reds have turned down an approach from Bayern Munich to buy Diaz.
Football Insider recently revealed that Diaz is “in negotiations” over leaving Liverpool as talks over a new contract are yet to progress with Barcelona and Bayern still interested, and he has now reacted to a new heartfelt message from Liverpool online.

Liverpool send birthday message to Vitezslav Jaros
Diaz will follow the likes of Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Nat Phillips out of the Anfield exit door this summer, if he does depart soon.
The Reds have also moved to let back-up goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros leave to join Ajax on loan for the season, and they sent a message to him on Instagram on Wednesday (23 July), saying: “Happy birthday, Vítězslav” to mark his 24th birthday.
His Liverpool teammate Diaz moved to like the club’s post, while Reds legend Steven Gerrard and fellow back-up stopper Harvey Davies also did the same.
Diaz’ inconsistencies could lead Liverpool to accept bid
Football Insider verdict
Liverpool boss Arne Slot recently admitted that he is a “big admirer” of Diaz after his “great season,” yet new reports of his desire to depart could well tempt the Anfield hierarchy into a sale soon.
At 28-years-old, his time being a top operator on the wing is likely coming to an end in the coming years, especially given his reliance on pace and explosiveness to burst past opponents and score or assist.
Appearances | Starts | Goals | Assists |
50 | 38 | 17 | 8 |
Even though last season was his most impactful in a red shirt, he has been inconsistent at times too over the years, and even went 10 league games without a goal from September to December last term, while he netted in just one of his nine Champions League appearances all campaign.
It is fair to admit that his left-wing position is one that Slot may well look to upgrade this summer as Liverpool aim to retain their title, and so it may well make sense to sanction an exit for the Colombian considering his recent tough spells and the major interest from both Bayern and Barcelona.
Bayern are planning to return with another bid for Diaz soon, and are prepared to reach Liverpool’s £69m valuation of his services, so it certainly looks like he will be on his way out in the coming weeks as the Reds prepare to wrap up a deal for Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.
