Lukasz Fabianski: West Ham star set to open new deal talks – sources
West Ham and goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski are set to discuss a potential contract extension in the off-season, sources have told Football Insider.
The former Poland international, who turns 38 on Tuesday (18 April), signed a 12-month deal last summer (2022) which includes the option for another year.
It is believed that Fabianski is likely to only see his contract extended by 12 months as he enters the twilight of his career.
The former Arsenal star has started all but two of the Irons’ Premier League games this season, with a facial injury keeping him out of the side for games against Brighton and Aston Villa last month.
However, backup goalkeeper Alphonse Areola has been trusted between the sticks in European and cup competitions this term.
Areola was signed from Paris Saint-Germain for a reported fee of £7.75million last summer (2022) but is yet to pass Fabianski in the West Ham pecking order.
Fabianski has made 29 appearances across all competitions for the Irons in the 2022-23 campaign, conceding 34 goals and keeping nine clean sheets.
He has been at the club since joining from Swansea in 2018 and earns a reported wage of £65,000-a-week at the London Stadium.
The experienced shot-stopper has been a key part of David Moyes’ side during their recent success, helping them to back-to-back top-seven finishes in the last two seasons.
Fabianski has racked up a total of 344 Premier League appearances after spells at West Ham, Swansea and Arsenal.

The Irons’ European commitments have taken their toll this season with Moyes’ side still under threat of relegation to the Championship.
West Ham picked up a well-earned point against leaders Arsenal on Sunday (16 April) to leave them four points above the drop zone.
In other news, two £10m-plus West Ham deals on the cards.
