Mac Allister, Konate and Luis Diaz react to Van Dijk’s message after they’re axed by Liverpool
Virgil van Dijk remained upbeat in a message to Liverpool fans despite the side falling to defeat against Chelsea in the Premier League.
Liverpool were beaten 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on 4 May, suffering just their third league loss of the season.
Van Dijk gave Arne Slot’s side a lifeline when he headed in from a corner following an early goal by Enzo Fernandez and a Jarell Quansah own-goal that handed Chelsea the advantage.
But any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Cole Palmer converted a stoppage-time penalty to wrap up the points for the home side.
However, fans vented their frustration with the performance, with some Liverpool supporters criticising Trent Alexander-Arnold’s display.
Despite the disappointment, Van Dijk shared a message of encouragement for the supporters, showing leadership and focus towards the end of the season.

Liverpool could face summer transfer restriction after Virgil van Dijk contract renewal
Van Dijk posted a message with supporters following the Chelsea defeat, posting an image from the guard of honour the Blues gave Liverpool before kick-off with the caption: “3 more to go, back home on Sunday.”
His post drew plenty of reactions from teammates, with Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister, who were all left out of the starting XI on Sunday, all liking the photo.
The Dutchman’s future had been the subject of speculation throughout the campaign as his previous deal approached expiry at the end of this season, but Liverpool secured the Van Dijk on a new two-year contract last month.
However, football finance expert Rob Wilson has suggested the new deal could have a knock-on effect in the transfer market.
With the captain being among the club’s highest earners and little chance of a profitable resale, Van Dijk’s new deal may restrict Liverpool in the transfer window while staying within financial regulations.
Liverpool plot Kingsley Coman move amid Premier League agent push

Slot will no doubt be relieved to have both Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah committed to the club, but plans are already in motion for incoming business ahead of next season.
Football Insider revealed Liverpool are exploring a move for Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman, with his English-based agent keen to engineer a Premier League switch.
With potential outgoings in attack, including Darwin Nunez, Diaz and Diogo Jota all linked with moves away, the France international is viewed as a strong option to bolster depth across the front line.
