Mac Allister reacts to Cristian Romero’s message after Tottenham contract update
Tottenham defender Cristian Romero was in a positive mood on social media after an update on his future at the club.
Spurs have already kicked off a busy summer under new boss Thomas Frank, with the club looking to address key areas following a mixed campaign last season.
Defensive issues were a recurring problem for Tottenham, with inconsistent performances and injuries to key players like Micky van de Ven and Romero hampering their backline.
Meanwhile, the Argentinian centre-back’s future had come under the spotlight in recent months. Football Insider reported back in April that Atletico Madrid were preparing a move for Romero, fuelling speculation of a potential departure.
However, recent reports have indicated that Atletico have now pulled out of the race to sign Romero. Instead, Tottenham are said to be planning talks to extend his stay in North London with a new contract.
In the wake of the news, the World Cup winner shared a post on Instagram that was met with plenty of reaction from fans and fellow professionals, hinting at a more settled outlook ahead of the new season.

Cristian Romero back at Spurs amid Atletico transfer links
Romero returned to Hotspur Way this week as Tottenham’s squad reunited for the start of pre-season training.
The Argentine defender shared multiple photos from the first session back on Instagram, which quickly drew attention from fellow Premier League stars, including Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez and Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister.
Several of Romero’s Spurs teammates also showed support, with James Maddison and Yves Bissouma among those liking the post.
Romero’s future had been surrounded by uncertainty in recent months, but it now appears increasingly likely that he will remain in North London.
Atletico Madrid had shown interest for a number of months over a summer move for the World Cup winner. But Spurs were standing firm on their £60million valuation of Romero, and that may have caused Diego Simeone’s side to look elsewhere.
Tottenham open to selling Bissouma as Juventus interest grows

While Bissouma was showing appreciation to his teammate on social media, he may not be his teammate for much longer.
Mick Brown, former scout at Spurs, revealed that Tottenham are prepared to entertain offers for Bissouma amid growing interest in the midfielder for an exit away.
Bissouma is keen to join Juventus and there is a belief that Frank is prepared to cash in on the 28-year-old before the season begins, as he begins to reshape his new side.
