‘Mainoo and Garnacho’s agents spotted at Man United as exits rumoured’

Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho have both been linked with Man United exits this summer with the club in a perilous financial position and their agents have clearly been engaged.

The Red Devils find themselves in an awkward position, wanting to modernise their crumbling stadium, whilst dealing with the financial consequences of several underwhelming seasons.

As a consequence, Man United will be operating on a limited transfer budget this summer and may be forced to sell before they are able to buy.

Matheus Cunha is a target for Man United, owing to Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee’s poor performances, whilst they are also keen on adding Rayan Cherki is also a target for Ruben Amorim’s side.

Due to the nature of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR), clubs are motivated to sell players who have come through their academies, as it secures them a pure profit.

As such, Mainoo and Garnacho may both leave United this summer, with the club needing to accrue funds to rebuild their struggling side and each representing major opportunities for profit as academy graduates.

Both players’ agents were spotted at the front of the press box at the Estadio San Mames ahead of kick off in United’s meeting with Athletic Club in the Europa League semi-final, by Samuel Luckhurst, Manchester Evening News’ chief Man United writer.

Football Insider Verdict

For a team so famed for their development of young talent, United may currently be one of England’s least appealing clubs to play for as an emerging prospect.

Both Garnacho and Mainoo will likely be following Marcus Rashford’s rejuvenation at Aston Villa closely.

The Carrington graduate was accused of lacking work ethic by Amorim and subsequently ousted from the club in the January transfer window.

However, away from the spotlight and the excruciating, unachievable expectations placed upon him at his boyhood club, the 27-year-old has earnt his place back in the England set-up and is back to his best.

The two youngsters have all the talent in the world, but with United in purgatory, a move away from the club will allow them to develop into the superstars they have the potential to become.
