Rangers are still working on a deal to sign QPR forward Bright Osayi-Samuel on a pre-contract, Football Insider can reveal.
The Scottish champions are among multiple clubs north and south of the border, including neighbours Celtic, keen to land the in-demand 22-year-old.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that QPR are making fresh attempts to tie Osayi-Samuel to a new contract ahead of his current agreement expiring next summer.
But the player himself is keeping all his options open, including the possibility of a transfer to Glasgow.
The wide man has entered the final nine months of his contract at the London club and can sign a pre-contract deal from 1 January.
Rangers are keen to take advantage of cross-border rules and sign a player valued at £5million on a free transfer.
QPR knocked back enquiries for Osayi-Samuel in the January window and, in February, triggered an option to extend his contract by 12 months until the summer of 2021.
He has held extensive talks with multiple clubs this summer but has remained at Loftus Road.
A move to Brugge collapsed earlier this summer after QPR had accepted a £5million bid, and the likes of Leicester City, Fulham and Brighton have also been keeping close tabs on him.
Osayi-Samuel’s value is set to plummet if he remains in west London beyond next Monday’s transfer deadline.
He is said to be relaxed about his situation and not looking to rush into a deal.
Osayi-Samuel, who can play anywhere behind the striker including on both flanks, scored six goals and supplied nine assists from 40 matches in all competitions last season.
He opened his account for the new campaign with a goal in last weekend’s 1-1 Championship draw against Middlesbrough.
