Malik Tillman facing axe from Rangers XI after what pundit has seen
Frank McAvennie has claimed Malik Tillman should be dropped from the Rangers starting XI.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said there may be something in Tillman’s agreement that prevents Giovanni van Bronckhorst from leaving the 20-year-old on the sidelines.
The USA international started for the Bears against Liverpool on Tuesday (4 October).
As revealed by SofaScore (4 October), the midfielder has just 18 touches in the 66 minutes he was on the pitch, the lowest out of all other players in the starting XI.
On 15 July, the Light Blues confirmed the signing of Tillman on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich.
The deal includes an exclusive option to buy for the Ibrox club.
McAvennie suggested Van Bronckhorst may be unable to drop Tillman due to a clause in his agreement.
“He is not having the best of times at the moment,” he told Football Insider.
“But there might be something in his agreement that he has got to play, which I think is ridiculous. If that is there the manager has to try and get it out of the contract because he has to drop him.
“Gio has got to be able to say ‘you’re not playing well, you’re not playing’.“

Tillman has made 14 appearances for the Gers across all competitions so far this season and has started six of those games.
In those outings he has scored two goals and provided two assists.
