Man City 115 charges: Keith Wyness suggests ‘movement’ within months
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed there will be “movement” in Man City’s fight against 115 financial charges this year.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – accused City of “trying to kick it into the long grass” and “exhaust” the Premier League’s legal resources.
Man City were hit with 115 charges by the Premier League in February 2023 for allegedly breaching financial rules over nine years.
Premier League chief executive Richard Masters claimed last week (26 April) at the European Leagues General Assembly that “a date has been set and the case will resolve itself at some point in the near future”.
Wyness has previously told Football Insider (3 December 2023) that City have a “huge” in-house team of 30 lawyers.
Man City facing verdict in 2024 but appeals could take ‘two years’, says Wyness
He has suggested the Premier League title favourites always intended to make the process a “legal mess”.
The former Everton CEO told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think there’ll be some movement this year, before Christmas.
“But because it’s so complex, any appeals – and there could be multiple – could take a long, long time.
“We could be talking two years to get this resolved.

“Meanwhile, new rules are coming in – and it’s just going to be one legal mess.
“City have always known that, and I believe that’s what they’ve tried to do. They’ve tried to kick it into the long grass and exhaust the legal resources of the football authorities.”
