Man City 115 charges: Keith Wyness ‘very surprised’ by new development

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness believes Man City will be keeping tabs on Chelsea and the reaction to their £77million PSR loophole.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – explained that City’s 115 charges also include alleged breaches of related party deals.

Chelsea have appeared to loophole Profit and Sustainability Rules in their 2022-23 accounts by selling two hotels to a sister company for a total of £76.5million.

As revealed by Football Insider, an investigation is still ongoing over the sales with the Premier League yet to declare the deal “fair market value”.

City face 115 charges of financial regulations – some of which include alleged breaches of related party deals similar to the Chelsea investigation.

Man City will follow Chelsea PSR case ahead of 115 charges

Wyness has told Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that City will be closely following the Chelsea case ahead of their 115 charges.

I’m very surprised that the Premier League hasn’t come out and said, yes, this is an approved transaction,” Wyness said.

We’ll have to wait and see – that seems to be the case at the moment.

Whether they’re having a second look, I don’t know.

Related party transactions are pretty strange and that is what seems to be most of the issues relating to Manchester City.

So they will also be keeping an eye on the Chelsea situation and seeing how that progresses.
