Man City 115 charges: Premier League told to make hearing public – O’Rourke
The Premier League should be more transparent about the ongoing financial fair play (FFP) case against Manchester City to uphold the integrity of the league.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke was adamant the Citizens’ hearing date should be made public by the governing body.
Man City were handed 115 charges by the Premier League in February 2023 for allegedly breaching the FFP rules over a nine-year period.
Although an unknown hearing date has been set, Football Insider revealed on 27 April the matter is unlikely to be resolved before the end of next season due to the complexity surrounding the case.
O’Rourke admitted the Premier League should be more forthcoming about the situation after Everton and Nottingham Forest have both recently been handed points deductions for breaching the spending rules.
Premier League must be more transparent about Man City case
This issue has already dragged on for more than a year and various stakeholders have vented their frustrations about how the case has been handled.
Premier League chief Richard Masters revealed on 26 April the hearing will take place in the “near future”, but he didn’t divulge any further details.
There have been reports suggesting it could take place in October, with Football Insider revealing on 28 April that Man City could be relegated to the Championship if they are found guilty.

But the Citizens’ lawyers have long argued the club haven’t done anything wrong and are likely to challenge any potential punishments that could be handed out.
Although it appears steps have been made recently to speed up the process, it could be a while yet before a resolution is reached.
