Man City ‘adamant’ they will win FFP ‘fight’ with Premier League ‘from what I’ve heard’

Man City have told ex-England star Paul Robinson they have “done nothing” to breach financial rules and are confident they will be let off the hook.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the ex-Tottenham shot-stopper claimed City’s team of “best lawyers in the world” are “just kicking the can down the road”.

Last year, City were charged by the Premier League with 115 financial breaches spanning nine seasons – but their case is not set to be heard by an independent commission until later this year.

City, who have been under investigation since 2018, have rigorously denied any wrongdoing throughout the process.

It has been widely reported that Pep Guardiola’s side could face relegation or even stripping of titles if they are found guilty.

Man City legal battle ‘won’t come to a quick conclusion’, says Robinson

However, Robinson insisted City’s triumphs should not be taken away from the “players or fans”.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Man City have been facing these charges for some time.

“They’ve employed some of the best lawyers in the world, they’re just kicking the can down the road.

“But if you listen to Man City, they’re adamant they’ve done nothing wrong.

“They’re adamant about fighting these charges and adamant they will be found innocent of all the charges.

“We can speculate about relegations or punishments, but if you listen to it from a Man City perspective, and from what I’ve just heard – they’re confident they haven’t done anything wrong.

“I’m not a big fan of stripping clubs of titles and trophies. You can’t ever take that away from players or fans.

“This is going to be something we’re talking about for some time. It’s not going to come to a quick conclusion.

“There is another side to the story – and City are adamant they will fight it all the way.”
