Man City are ‘talking about buying Bellingham’ after source’s reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie has insisted Man City don’t need any more midfield players unless Ilkay Gundogan leaves.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker urged City against signing Jude Bellingham.

On 26 February, sources told this site that the Sky Blues will look to strengthen their midfield in the summer window after Barcelona reignited their interest in Gundogan.

The 32-year-old is out of contract in the summer and the La Liga club are keen to sign him for free.

Pep Guardiola’s side have not given up hope of convincing the Germany international to stay in Manchester but are still set on adding to the midfield.

One target who has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer is Jude Bellingham and the youngster is set to be subject of big transfer interest in the summer.

Last month (17 February), sources told this site that Liverpool are working behind the scenes to persuade the 19-year-old to become the key member of their midfield rebuild.

When asked if City need to add to their midfield, McAvennie told Football Insider:No.

I do not know what they need. It depends if Gundogan goes or if he stays.

Liverpool

They have got loads of midfield players. Pep is just clearing out players at the moment.

They are talking about buying Bellingham and I am thinking he won’t get a game there, he will be a bit-part player. Bellingham has got to play every week so we will see how that one develops.

In other news, according to sources, Man City could now cash in as Government investigation imminent.
