Man City close in on two forward signings, one deal agreed
Man City are exploring a late-window striker signing in addition to the soon-to-be announced capture of Divin Mubama, sources have told Football Insider.
The defending Premier League champions have opened preliminary talks over a senior forward capture as they work through their target list.
The plan is to sign a proven forward who can provide cover for Erling Haaland but would not expect to play every game.
The deal to sign Mubama is agreed, but he will join the Under-21s squad and will only occasionally train with the first team.
Man City sold Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid earlier this summer, losing their main backup for Haaland.
That has left Pep Guardiola searching for a striker who is content not being the first-choice name on the team sheet before the window slams shut.
Man City need to find cover for Erling Haaland
Haaland wasted no time opening his account for the season by scoring in the first game of the season as they beat Chelsea 2-0.
The Norway international has already made 100 appearances for Man City, proving himself to be a reliable member of the squad.
However, last season he did miss six Premier League matches and a further three FA Cup games through injury.

Man City will be back in action against Ipswich Town this Saturday (24 August).
