Kieran Maguire: Man City could ‘get £150m for Phil Foden’ after ‘surprising’ news

Man City “could get £150million for Phil Foden” alone – so it is surprising to see that their squad value is lower than expected.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the findings of a recent study from KPMG.

The finance analysis firm released figures on Wednesday (23 February) that showed that City have the highest squad value in world Football.

The reigning Premier League champions’ squad is worth £960m, which is £140m more than closest challengers Chelsea.

Foden is the jewel in the crown of an academy that has churned out numerous City first-team players in recent years.

Maguire admitted that he presumed City’s value would be greater given their “sensational” production line.

“I’m actually surprised it’s not a little bit higher,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“You’ve got players who’ve come through their academy like Phil Foden. You could probably get £150m for him.

“There are other absolutely sensational kids coming through too.

“I would say that £960m is a conservative estimate in terms of what they could do in terms of generating cash.

“It’s an interesting analysis. It’s a testament to the fact that they have spent money and spent it well.”

Foden, 23, netted the only goal as City beat Everton at Goodison Park yesterday (26 February) to reinforce their lead atop the Premier League.

The attacker has found the back of the net 10 times and supplied six assists in 28 appearances this season.
