Man City could ‘outspend’ Premier League to avoid 115 FFP charges – Wyness
Former Everton and Aston Villa chief Keith Wyness believes Man City could “outlawyer” and “outspend the Premier League to avoid their 115 charges.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – said he has “no sympathy” for Man City as they await their trial to defend their 115 charges.
Premier League chief Richard Masters confirmed in January that a “date has been set” for City’s trial after they were charged with 115 breaches spanning back to 2009.
Finance expert Kieran Maguire told Football Insider that City’s FFP case will likely continue into early 2025.
If found guilty, one of City’s former financial advisors has suggested that they “will be relegated” from the Premier League.

“I’ve got no sympathy for Manchester City because we’ve seen what most of the charges are about and read a lot of the previous evidence that was in the media,” Wyness told Football Insider.
“In one sense, I do feel sorry for them because it is hanging over them.
“City have got ambitions and have got their own plans and I respect that – but this is hanging over them.
“It’s going to be another year or so.
“This could be part of a cohesive strategy from Man City to actually outlawyer the Premier League and to outspend them on legal charges.
“It would seem that way.
“But I would imagine they prefer to have something like this dealt with and closed as well.“
