Man City could sign Mohamed Salah after source’s ‘huge’ update on Liverpool talks – pundit
Noel Whelan has claimed Man City are among “three clubs” who could sign Liverpool star Mo Salah on a free next summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker suggested Real Madrid and Paris St Germain would also be waiting in the wings amid the 29-year-old’s contract standoff at Anfield.
A source close to Liverpool told Football Insider on Saturday (26 March) that the Liverpool board believe Salah will drop his £500,000-a-week wage demands to sign a “huge” deal.

The source explained the Reds’ confidence is partly driven by the lack of alternative clubs that can offer what Salah is asking for.
The winger’s current terms are set to expire next summer.
Whelan suggested City would be among those the Egypt international could join if he does not pen a new deal.
“There are only a handful of clubs in the world that you would say are the dream,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“Real Madrid, Barcelona, probably Bayern Munich, Man City and Liverpool. I don’t even think many other teams could actually afford the wages that he’s demanding.
“That’s another thing you’ve got to look at. How many people could pay £500,000-pounds-a-week?
“That to me is Man City, Real Madrid. Bayern Munich probably can’t even stretch to that, I wouldn’t have thought.
“You’re talking two clubs, possibly three with Paris St Germain as well. Barcelona still have too many debts under their belt. They need to be really careful.

“You’re looking at Real Madrid, Paris St Germain and Man City, if there is going to be any free contract deals going on for Mo Salah.
“These clubs are huge clubs. Look at the players they’ve got. It’s not a step sideways.”
