Man City could sign superstar to replace Raheem Sterling after source’s reveal – pundit
Alex McLeish has suggested Pep Guardiola could let Raheem Sterling leave if Man City pull off the signing of Erling Haaland.
The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted it would be “strange” for the club to let the 27-year-old leave on a free.
As revealed by Football Insider on Wednesday (20 April), Sterling is prepared to run down his contract to become a free agent next summer.

Meanwhile, The Athletic (19 April) claim Haaland’s representatives have agreed personal terms with City and that the striker has given a move the green light.
McLeish suggested the Borussia Dortmund superstar’s arrival could see Sterling depart this summer.
“Pep always seems to be ahead of the game a wee bit when he’s choosing players.
“Perhaps Haaland is going to come in and it’ll be a different kettle of fish. Pep seems to to get it right most of the time.
“It does seem a bit strange that they would let Sterling run his contract down after the brilliant career that he’s had there.
“But you’ve seen the facts this year, the statistics that there have been a lot of times Pep has left him out. You got the feeling that is Pep not 100 per cent not on him anymore or is he looking at freshening things up again.

“You don’t want to just be a great team last year or the year before, you want to be a great team next year. To do that, you need to improve even more. I’m not saying he can improve on Sterling.
“But if Sterling goes and he’s bringing Haaland in, you know that he’s going to have the players to make it another tour de force.”
