Man City could sell Rodri in shock move as internal worries emerge
Manchester City could shock the football world and sell Rodri as a result of a behind-the-scenes issue.
The 29-year-old has developed into one of Pep Guardiola’s most important players over the last few years, bringing control and calmness to the midfield.
Real Madrid are long-term admirers of Rodri and have been linked with a move for him before the transfer window closes.
Man City are in contract talks with Rodri ahead of his current deal expiring in 2027.
However, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness, who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Rodri’s injury issues could put talks on hold.

Rodri’s new Man City contract not guaranteed
This article contains exclusive comment from Keith Wyness, former Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen CEO.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that there are question marks over whether City are going to offer the Spain international a new deal, due to his fitness problems.
Rodri spent the majority of last season out injured after sustaining ligament damage in his right knee, and he will miss the start of the new campaign after suffering a setback.
Wyness added that while it would be a high-profile sale, the midfielder could still leave the Etihad in the near future.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, this is one that I have a big question mark about. I think his fitness is still an issue.
“They’re saying he won’t be back fit till September, and I think it would be difficult to forecast if he’s going to be made that contract offer.

“When you’re looking at having to cull some of the players, he could be a very high-profile name that could go. He has been a mainstay, but there is this fitness issue that I’m hearing is not quite healing the way that it would appear to be. Allegedly, that’s what’s going on.
“Media reports, as we know, can often be misleading. So I think there’s a bit more doubt about that contract situation than it being a nailed-on certainty that he’s going to become the second-highest paid player at City. Let’s just wait and see the next few weeks.”
Man City focusing on signing Gianluigi Donnarumma
Meanwhile, Man City are entering the race to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma, sources have told Football Insider.
Guardiola’s side are exploring a move for the unsettled Italy international with Ederson potentially set to join Galatasaray.
City have expressed an interest in Donnarumma and are ready to rival Man United for his signature.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the 26-year-old, amid doubts around the long-term future of current Man United number one Andre Onana.
