Man City ‘doing everything’ to agree Kevin De Bruyne deal – sources

Man City are set to accelerate contract renewal talks with star man Kevin De Bruyne, sources have told Football Insider.

The midfielder, who turns 33 next month, is currently out of contract at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

It is believed City will now push to open talks with De Bruyne over a fresh deal after his key contribution this season.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Premier League champions are doing “everything they can” to tie the Belgium international down.

However, De Bruyne is in the box seat in negotiations as he seeks to land possibly the last big contract of an illustrious career.

Football Insider revealed in March that Saudi Pro League clubs have registered interest in a summer deal for the 32-year-old.

He joined Man City in 2015 and has won six Premier League titles since then, also winning the Champions League and Club World Cup.

The midfielder missed the first half of the 2023-24 campaign with a serious hamstring injury, but returned to provide a key contribution in January.

De Bruyne made 26 appearances across all competitions this term, starting in 20 of those outings.

He scored six goals and added 18 assists as City won a fourth straight league title.

According to Capology, the midfielder is the highest-paid player in the English top flight – earning £400,000-a-week.

De Bruyne signed his most recent contract extension in April 2021.
