Man City ‘doing their homework’ on last-gasp deal after double blow – sources

Man City and Pep Guardiola are open to adding a new attacker in the final days of the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League champions have suffered a double blow this summer with Julian Alvarez leaving for Atletico Madrid against Guardiola’s will, and Oscar Bobb suffering a leg break in training.

Sources say City are “doing their homework” on a new addition with the transfer window set to slam shut on 30 August.

However, there is no panic or rush to make a signing this summer despite the loss of Alvarez and Bobb.

It is believed City will only enter the market if an instant upgrade on their current starting eleven becomes available in the market.

Guardiola has the likes of Jeremy Doku, Jack Grealish, Savinho, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva to call upon in wide attacking areas – while Erling Haaland is the club’s only senior forward.

The Premier League champions are next in action against Ipswich on Saturday (24 August).
