Man City fans: Kevin de Bruyne is ‘finished’ as ‘shocking’ footage emerges
Man City fans are convinced Kevin de Bruyne is “finished” at the top level after his performance during their clash with Liverpool at the Etihad.
Pep Guardiola’s side fell to a frustrating 2-0 defeat at home after first-half goals from Mohamed Salah and Dominic Szoboszlai proved the difference on the day.
Liverpool have now moved 11 points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table, while City remain fourth, just five points above tenth-placed Fulham.
However, much of the home fans’ focus during the game was fixed on De Bruyne’s struggles as he was picked in the starting XI for the first time in over a month.
The 33-year-old’s usual calmness, composure, and stunning range of passing was lacking and instead replaced by multiple sloppy and uninspiring efforts.
The most alarming moment, however, came as he lashed a left-footed strike from the edge of the box miles high and wide into the stands, as the “shocking” clip quickly went viral.

Kevin de Bruyne could leave Man City after contract latest
This below-par display has come amid plenty of speculation over the midfielder’s future, as his contract at the Etihad is set to expire at the end of the current season.
Football Insider revealed in November that City were set to hold sit-down talks about whether to renew De Bruyne’s contract, as he will make a decision about where he sees his future.
However, there is now a growing feeling that he will opt to talk away upon the expiry of his deal, while Man City are working on a deal to sign De Bruyne’s replacement.
There have been links to Saudi Pro League sides as well as MLS outfit San Diego FC, and there is thought to be no shortage of interest in his signature.
Kevin de Bruyne is finished after what he did v Liverpool
Following a disappointing performance against Liverpool, a game we have previously seen him dominate, many fans are suggesting it is time to move on.
City fans were previously convinced De Bruyne would quit Man City at the end of the season after he admitted it would be his last year if no talks take place.
Now, in the wake of the Liverpool defeat, fans have taken to social media to express their “sadness” that De Bruyne now looks to be “finished” at this level.
