Kieran Maguire rubbishes Man City FFP claim amid ‘forensic’ investigation
Uefa will be entirely objective in their investigation into the Financial Fair Play Status of Man City despite the pair’s acrimonious history.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about City’s presence on Uefa’s FFP watchlist.
City have until recently stayed of Uefa’s official FFP radar since they overturned a two-year ban from the Champions League in July 2020.

The allegations, which related to City’s non-disclosure of certain financial arrangements, were voided by the Court of Arbitration for Sport because they were time-barred.
But the Abu Dhabi-backed club were named by Uefa last Friday (2 September) as one of 20 teams on their official FFP watchlist.
City will be required to submit additional documentation and will be monitored closely as a result.
But Maguire does not believe that City have a target on their backs despite widespread claims to the contrary.
“While Uefa are probably still sore after City overturned the Champions League ban, I don’t think this will impact their objectivity,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“City being on the watchlist in terms of the most recent Uefa report is down to a thorough and forensic report of all the clubs who are participating in Uefa competitions.

“It’s only fair to note that, as far as the main clubs who have been fined, most of them have come from France and Italy.
“UK clubs, by contrast, have come out of it relatively benignly.”
