Finance guru: Man City ‘flexing their muscles’ as ‘premium’ £17m deal struck
Man City have flexed their muscles in the commercial department by signing a training kit sponsor deal with cryptocurrency firm OKX.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about City’s expanded relationships with the “premium” Seychelles-based company.
The 2021-22 Premier League champions first partnered with OKX back in March.
City announced last Monday (11 July) that they had broadened the scope of the deal to include training kit sponsorship rights.
The deal, which covers the 2022-23 season in full, is worth £17million according to industry experts Forbes.
Plumley emphasised the value of the deal and forecasted that City’s top-flight rivals will be looking on with envy.
“It is definitely big money for what it is,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“It’s close to the United deal in terms of training kit deal. It’a another muscle flex in commercial terms, for sure.
“OKX promote themselves as being a premium crypto firm, very different to some others. That’s the angle that they choose to do things.
“When you see clubs like this doing this, it will prick the ears of other clubs and look towards it as a potential revenue stream.”

City earned £570m in revenue in 2020-21, the most recent financial year on record.
Their commercial income accounted for £271.7m of that figure, which was second only to Man United in the Premier League.
In other news, pundit claims this is real reason Oleksandr Zinchenko is cutting ties with Pep Guardiola as Man City exit close.
