Kieran Maguire salutes Man City after ‘impressive’ new deal agreed
Man City have established a “global presence” through their network of associated clubs – a big plus when it comes to commercial income.
That is the view of finance boffin Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about City Football Group’s multi-club empire.
City announced on 21 October that they have extended their partnership with consumer appliances producer, Midea.
Midea will advertise at the Etihad stadium and their appliances are set to be installed at the club’s sprawling training complex.
The partnership is now into its third year and Midea also sponsors City’s sister club in the United States, New York City.
City Football Group, whose revenue was £544million in 2020, has a portfolio of 10 clubs in 10 different countries around the world.
Maguire argues that being able to pool sponsorship deals is one of a range of positives when it comes to the multi-club model.
“Ultimately, you’re looking for exposure,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“The benefit of having a broader sponsorship arrangement is that the brand will be seen by more people.
“The shirts worn by Melbourne City and New York City etcetera are of a similar style. They are all that City sky blue.

“That starts to give you that global presence. People start to recognise that there is an impressive City Football Group brand.
“The advantage of that is that you’re constantly looking to get as wide an appeal as possible across as many demographics.“
