Finance guru issues ‘huge’ Man City cash claim as new deal struck
Man City could sell a “limitless” number of virtual matchday tickets if they are successful with their first foray into the metaverse.
That is the view of finance guru Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about City’s willingness to embrace new technology.
City have made multiple steps into the metaverse and the world of blockchain in recent months.

NFT company Quidd revealed last Wednesday (25 May) that they had signed a deal to produce a new range of NFTs for the Premier League champions.
City also announced earlier this year (4 March) that they had partnered with tech giants Sony to produce a virtual version of the Etihad Stadium in the metaverse.
And their high-tech business endeavours could pay off big-time in the near future, insists Plumley.
“If City can pull off this venture into the metaverse, they can sell VR headsets to fans all away around the world,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“When they put them on, that will put them in a virtual version of the Etihad Stadium. But in reality, they are sat in China, India or America.
“How many tickets can they sell then? All you need is the technology to dial into it. The possibilities are huge, limitless. That’s what you get when you move into these areas.”

City earned £217million in commercial income in 2020-21.
Their accounts for the 2021-22 campaign are not due for release until March 2023.
