Man City make decision on activating Liam Delap buy-back clause – sources
Man City are unlikely to activate their buy-back clause for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (10 February) that Man United and Chelsea are both keen on Delap ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old has adjusted well to the Premier League after joining last summer (2024) but Ipswich are in danger of relegation straight back to the Championship.
If the worst happens, it is believed Kieran McKenna’s side will find it too tough to hold onto their talisman in the second tier.
Man City not set to rival Man United & Chelsea for Liam Delap
However, Man City are set to decline the chance to bring Delap back to the Etihad Stadium despite inserting a buy-back clause when he was sold to Ipswich.
It is believed City’s transfer team will be concentrating on other areas of the side as they continue a rebuild.
Omar Marmoush arrived in January after scoring regularly for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga and the club feel he can provide sufficient striking depth behind Erling Haaland in their pecking order.

Man United and Chelsea could therefore be left to battle it out for Delap’s signature in the off-season but will be wary of interest from other Premier League outfits.
The England Under-21 international has hit nine goals and notched two assists in 25 games across all competitions for Ipswich this term.
Silva scheduled for showdown Man City talks
City kickstarted their rebuild in January by shipping out Kyle Walker and adding four new young faces in Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (11 February) that Bernardo Silva will assess his Man City future at the end of the season.
The 30-year-old midfield star will enter the final 12 months of his contract at the Etihad Stadium in June.
Kevin De Bruyne is also out of contract at the Etihad Stadium in June and has been widely linked with an exit.
